Keep On Singin’ My Song Sunday, Feb 13 2011

Hi Readers,

Music is a huge part of my life. Anybody who knows me will tell you this. They will also tell you that I deeply connect to certain lyrics. I don’t necessarily care about who wrote the song–but how it is sung. Today’s post is about my favorite band or artist.

Day 13 - A picture of your favorite band or artist.

If you haven’t already guessed, it is Ms. Christina Aguilera. I don’t give a damn about what is going on in her personal life right now–it is her life. But her story before she became famous is inspiring. It actually all comes out on her album, Stripped. Probably my favorite of all her albums, followed closely by Bionic. Christina has an absolutely fantastic voice and I wish I could sing half as well as she does. Her songs have gotten me through the best and worst of times. Some of my favorites include: “I’m Okay”, “Fighter”, “The Voice Within”, “Beautiful”, “Keep On Singin’ My Song”, and “You Lost Me.”

A couple other artists that are on my favorite’s list include:

"If you can't stand the way this place is, take yourself to higher places..."--"Break"

Three Days Grace is a great band. Sometimes, they say it just the way it needs to be said. I always like their songs… and hey, Adam Gontier is not bad to look at either. 😉
“Animal I Have Become”
“Break”
“Pain”
“Home”
“Are You Ready?”
“I’d go back in time and change it but I can’t. So if the chain is on your door, I understand…”–“Back to December”

“Back to December”
“A Place in This World”
“Breathe”
“Fearless”
Taylor Swift has everything regarding relationships, crushes, heartbreak, whatever. You name, she has covered it. I respect that she writes about her experiences because I do the same thing… I just do it in Creative Nonfiction assignments.
So, that’s not all, but some. I’ve a pretty wide range…
I hope that you have some kind of music that impacts you. 🙂

Ink Monday, Feb 7 2011

Hi Readers,

There’s something about tattoos–I don’t know–I just love them. I have one and would love to get a couple more. Now, before, anyone goes “Omg,” hear me out. I believe that tattoos are an expression of the self and, if done properly, can look absolutely beautiful. I am all about placement–maybe I’m overly modest–so what. 🙂

Day 12 - A picture of something you love.

The idea of getting a tattoo significant to something or someone is amazing, at least I think so. The tattoo I have was planned and the ink I want to get in the future will also be planned–and they all have significance. 🙂 My first tattoo symbolized growth, my first year of college… being away from my family. While the following are not the actual designs I want, or maybe they are, the future tattoos include–

1) Angel wings with a latin phrase: Alis volat propriis. It means she flies with her own wings. I haven’t quite decided yet if I want an angel or the wings, but I know I want the art on my left shoulder blade. Either way, it symbolizes the same thing–I’m on my own now and am using my own wings to fly.

2) Either a dream catcher or a celtic cross which will eventually hold the names of my children. I will never get a man’s name tattooed on my body–to me, it would seem that I am branding myself to him. Now if that’s for you, more power to you–your business. 🙂 Anyway, I want it to go on my right shoulder blade.

3) My name. It might seem narcissistic or egocentric–but I take pride in my first name and the story behind it.

4) Lyrics. Music is a huge part of my life and I have narrowed it down to one or two songs that can describe everything I have gone through and the kind of person I am.

I guess you are just learning more and more about me everyday. 🙂

Love, Me (Thirty Days, Thirty Photos) Friday, Jan 14 2011

Hi Readers,

I’m sad to say that until I am able to come up with 30 hour days for a week, there will not be any new book reviews… Six classes, four are literature. Instead, I bring you something different. For the next thirty days, I am engaging myself in a photographic series that I’m calling… “Love, Me (Thirty Days, Thirty Photos).” Usually, I would give you a list of the different parts to whatever is going on… but this time, I’d like to try to not do that. I hope you are able to enjoy what is presented in place of the previous entries about books. Afterall, it is not forever…

Day 01: A Picture of Yourself with Ten Facts

1. I love taking photos of myself and enjoy editing them to suit a certain song, mood–some kind of theme.

2. I’m a fan of many kinds of music.

3. That being said, I absolutely love to sing, write songs… engross myself in the feelings the song emits.

4. Avid learner. I will look up extra information about a particular subject and continue reading until I believe I have credible knowledge and a need to share said information.

5. I’m incredibly unsure of myself in certain areas of my life. On any given day, you can hear me say something about myself that might be a bit more than mean.

6. If I don’t have any particular place to be, I actually enjoy being out and about– and lost.

7. There is nothing like being in bed or on the couch curled up with a good book. 😉

8. I have hazel eyes. It was a very long time before I actually came to terms with the fact that I have the same color eyes as my father. I have since decided that I am not him and my eyes are not his.

9. I love my friends and family deeply. But I’m very guarded around them and people in general. Here’s something positive though: I’m working on letting down my guard and loving myself even on my worst day.

10. This might be seem bizarre, but if you are looking at this picture, and reading this list, I want you to get to know me. Not necessarily, knowing me so well that you know what I do when I’m formulating an answer or when I’m pissed off (although, if you do know me that well, thank you for your patience)… but enough so that we have some understanding of each other. I like getting to know people… and I’m hoping that you have enough patience to do that. ♥

Thanks for reading,
Miss Nolaleigh
